Introducing Drosera binata - The Enchanting Forkleaf Sundew Drosera binata, commonly known as the Forkleaf sundew, is a captivating carnivorous plant that exhibits a striking "T" form. This unique plant species can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors, thriving in full sun conditions. Placing it in a dish of water with approximately 2 inches of distilled water, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water provides the ideal growing environment. This adaptability makes it a suitable choice for a hanging basket, where it can also help control the population of annoying flying insects at shoulder/head height. Drosera binata is predominantly found in the sandy marshes of southern and eastern Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand. This species showcases various forms, but the single fork-leafed forms are the most widespread and commonly encountered. It's worth noting that maintaining this species can be a bit challenging if the natural climates where they are found are not taken into consideration. All forms of Drosera binata go through a dormancy period. As warm temperate plants, they either seasonally go dormant under natural light or occasionally go dormant under artificial light. During dormancy, these plants cease the production of new leaves and effectively die back to the ground. If you are not prepared to deal with dormant plants or wait for them to break dormancy, you can propagate new plants by taking root and stem cuttings. In cultivation, most forms of Drosera binata are either sterile, have self-incompatible flowers, or do not self-pollinate. If the flowers are self-incompatible, you will need two unrelated plants of the same type to obtain seeds. This species offers a great opportunity to reduce the need for chemical insecticides as it actively captures and consumes insects. Overall, Drosera binata, with its intriguing T-shaped foliage and remarkable insect-trapping abilities, is a wonderful addition to any plant enthusiast's collection. Whether you choose to hang it in a basket or display it on a sunny windowsill, this carnivorous plant is sure to captivate and impress.Size guide:Small plants come in a 3" potMedium plants come in a 4" potLarge plants will come in a 5" pot
